Enviro:bit kit - Make a Weather Station
Our enviro pHAT is so popular with schools that we made a micro:bit version - and now it's got its own kit! Complete with a weather station mount and activity cards, the enviro:bit kit is all you need to get started, in one handy reusable box.
With the enviro:bit you have a range of sensors to help you explore the world around you, and with the micro:bit's radio function you can place the weather station anywhere* within range and feed your results back into your hands!
*anywhere dry, that is. Wouldn't want to get it soggy.
These kits are ripe for using in the classroom, with or without the weather station - we have a number of activities you can use with the enviro:bit, as cards inside the kit, or as downloadable pdfs you can print out for use in the classroom. We've tested them out on code clubs, open days, festivals, and digital maker days, with school children of all ages (and adults too) so what you see is the culmination of that testing and improvement of our resources.
Each activity contains guidance, example code, and suggestions for expanding on that activity - we've found that creates an easy to follow baseline and enough extension work to challenge a wide range of abilities.
If you're allowed YouTube in the classroom, we have instruction videos for all of the activities on our YouTube channel - just look for the bit:kits playlist!
If you want to upgrade your display, why not combine the two kits (enviro:bit and scroll:bit) using the micro:bit radio function?
Suggested uses -
KS2 with adult assistance (all activities), KS3 independent (all activities), KS4 independent (all activities for non CS students, end of term activities, challenge by converting to micropython).
